Whipped Cream
Roo asked me one morning if I would make her some whipped cream

not thinking, I asked her, “well, what would you like it on?”

“I would like it on a BOWL, you silly”, she replied.

I KNEW that, I did.
And This
I remember this day; my parents took my sister and me on a road trip to Kitty Hawk and there was this hill and it was covered in little spiny plants. After this photograph was taken, we ran up that hill; she in her shoes and me in those socks. My socks soon filled with sharp points and I sat down to pull them out and then my bum had the spines so i rolled around to get my butt off the ground and became covered in one million needles on my back.
All of this because i was a very sharp kid.
Later, I remember my mother laying me face down in the backseat of the Barracuda and cutting my plaid pants off so she could pull the spines out one by one by one.

My sister loved that jacket and I remember she smelled like wheat and honey.

I am still here doing this

My asthma has been bad this week; I hesistate to mention it as I feel that i am beating the horse that died ages ago but I still feel cruddy and the days pass and pass and pass. I am finally seeing the immunologist this week and have my fingers crossed that she can provide some insight and help.
I am ordering seeds today, this will be good. The kids are happy today and this will be good, too. We had plans for fun but I cancelled because of my breathing; however, Trev is taking them out for unknown adventures this afternoon and they are content. I am grateful for this.
this is still lovely

and this

You carry it with you, all of it.

some days it lifts you and some days it weighs you down.
Sap, Wool, Daily Excitements
It is tree tapping time again and the sap began running this week! We have only tapped 25 trees this year as we don’t want to commit to much time, but that should produce enough to keep us for a year. I will take pictures when the light is right.
I am felting springy things to distract myself from the snow and the ice and the cold:

Happiness is trading felted things for a new pair of earrings from Duet

Roo says “life is happiness, now let’s eat FOOD”

Jesse says, “please don’t take my picture as I am BUSY!”
(so no pics of him)
I put a nest in my hair and pretend to watch the snow melt

I am bored of myself, the end.
Dear You,
This is just to say that winter is not ending

so we make squishy things

and build mouse houses

and decorate ourselves

We made a fourth of July cake on the first of March.

(If you don’t have frosting in your hair, then you have not applied it with enough passion.)

signed, sincerely, yours truly, love,
not coming out until the sun shines
P.S. please send the sun lamp, 3 books on composting, 5 pounds of chocolate and some lip balm soon.
Life, Games, Big Bad Hair
We get up very early in the morning so we can play games right away

she says beds are only good for jumping on

I tell them I love them because they are my sweet babies with their jumping and whooting and will always love them even when I put the headphones on because my head feels like imploding from the cacophony of joy that is so wonderful I am unsure if I can take even one more second.
this is me saying, I love you, I love you.

this is roo saying, I love you too

Wait, what is this? Oh no, I threw out all of my scrunchies in 1989? This is clearly someone elses head!

lastly, for kicks:
The Gallery of Regrettable Food
Like A Needle in A Catstack
The Cat

The other night I was up late felting and Nina ran by my felting goods and grabbed a thread hanging off a needle. She started playing with it and when i moved to stop her, she grabbed it and ran. Trevor tried to tackle her to grab it but she ran and SWALLOWED the needle as she hauled kitty tushie.
I kid you not.
So we called the nearest 24 hour vet and they said to keep an eye on her until morning and bring her in to our vet immediately. The vet performed surgery and they extracted it from her throat (where it was lodged!). She is doing fine now, eating and playing and doing her kitty thing.
She gets bored of me, see?

The ACTUAL needle that was inside my cat.

phew.
So tell me, what freak thing has your pet eaten?
