       Skill #1: flying

I love to swing, but it does not love me.  Over the past 5 years I have felt increasingly dizzy and slightly queasy after swinging for any length of time but I still adore it.   Trevor built this swing in the woods for us, on a branch of a 200 year old maple tree and it has a long, slow arc that makes you feel as if you are flying in slow motion.

And I do love to fly.

even when it is not perfect.

  • This is wonderful, delicate and oh so dreamy!!! I suffer from motion sickness and I too LOVE to swing and am not quite able to do it for too long for the same reasons! http://x50.xanga.com/1e9d0bfb5843399622941/w70116240.gif

MY SPC post is called Miming around…check it out!

  • I noticed that the other day, that I can’t swing without feeling sick! I’ve never been motion sick before. Is this part of getting old? Becasue I don’t like it. Losing bladder control, I’m okay with LOL. Gray hair? I don’t care. Flab? What the heck. But not being able to SWING………that really bothered me.

  • How wonderful. Great shot to be able to capture what you are feeling!

  • Me too! It is really annoying. I love the flying pictures.

  •

    awesome!

  • Ahhh…there is nothing like the slow, huge arc of a swing like that!!!!! The way a swing is meant to be! Yours sounds like the chocolate coke of all swings!!!!

I get queasy and dizzy on swings now, too. Also while doing a somersault, and sadly, I imagine roller coasters may be that way now, too. Why is that? Is it because we don’t move like that on a regular basis anymore?

  • The queasy/dizzy thing has been happening to me, too. Just in the past couple of years… is it growing older or can I blame childbirth? :frog:

  • Your photographs are so lovely.

I cannot swing either. As an adult I get all dizzy and queasy as well. Something that never happened as a child. My sensitivity to motion (roller coasters, boats, swings, baskseat car rides, spinning in circles, laying flat on my back, etc.) has increased as I got older. My mom has the same problem.

This does make life with a toddler challenging at times though.

  • wow…looks wonderful!

  • I love to swing. I’ve been getting sick on swings since high school, but I still jump on and try to go as high as I can. Your swing sounds lovely.
