    All This Beauty

    IMG_5420

    “All this beauty;
    You might have to close your eyes
    And slowly open wide
    All this beauty;
    We traveled all night
    We drank the ocean dry
    And watched the sun rise…

    You can ask about it
    But nobody knows the way
    No bread-crumb trail
    To follow through your days
    It takes an axe sometimes
    A feather in the sunshine
    And bad weather
    It’s a matter of getting deeper in
    Anyway you can

    All this beauty;
    You might have to close your eyes
    And slowly open wide
    All this beauty;
    We traveled all night
    We drank the ocean dry
    And watched the sun rise…

    I can see you’re new, awake
    Let me assure you, friend
    Every day is ice cream and chocolate cake
    And what you make of it
    Let me just say
    You get what you take
    From it, so be amazed
    Whenever you stop…
    You gotta be brave.

    All this beauty;
    You might have to close your eyes
    And slowly open wide (all this beauty)
    And watch the sun rise.”

    Good Morning Bloodroot

  • Whipped Cream

    Roo asked me one morning if I would make her some whipped cream

    not thinking, I asked her, “well, what would you like it on?”

    “I would like it on a BOWL, you silly”, she replied.

    I KNEW that, I did.

    And This

    I remember this day; my parents took my sister and me on a road trip to Kitty Hawk and there was this hill and it was covered in little spiny plants.    After this photograph was taken, we ran up that hill; she in her shoes and me in those socks.  My socks soon filled with sharp points and I sat down to pull them out and then my bum had the spines so i rolled around to get my butt off the ground and became covered in one million needles on my back.

    All of this because i was a very sharp kid.

     Later, I remember my mother laying me face down in the backseat of the Barracuda and cutting my plaid pants off so she could pull the spines out one by one by one.

     My sister loved that jacket and I remember she smelled like wheat and honey.
