  • because you are just dying to know

    ETA: update at bottom

    Operation Driveway

    (blow by blow)

    April 12, 2007

5:00PM: Dinner and discussion of snowfall accumulation (with the occasional choice curse words for our dead plow truck)

6:00PM: We make a plan! After the kids fall asleep, we will drink coffee and rum and drive up and down the driveway every few hours to keep the snow packed down.  This sounds like it cannot fail.

7:00PM: board games, Roo falls asleep

8:00PM-ish: Jesse conks out, as well

    9:00PM: phone call/s, much laughter

10:00PM: we break out the ice and rum and coffee and hang out on the couch

11:00PM: sound asleep on said couch

6:30AM (this morning): Operation Driveway was a complete and utter failure, we have 11 inches of accumulated snow.

May as well go back to bed.

    ETA:This should be fun

”BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON ALL MODELS INDICATE A MAJOR COASTAL STORM TO DEVELOP OFF OR ALONG THE MID ATLANTIC COAST. FOR NOW WE’LL GO WITH THE  CONCENSUS OF USING THE GEM AND EURO MODELS FOR GUIDANCE. GFS/WRF SEEM TO BE HAVING A PROBLEM TAKING SYSTEM EASTWARD FROM THE ROCKIES AND TRY TO PHASE IT WITH THE NORTHERN SYSTEM, ALLOWING IT TO GET ABSORBED TOO FAR WEST AND NORTH. ASSUMING THESE STAY SEPARATE ONE WOULD  EXPECT A MORE SOUTHERN AND EASTERLY TRACK FROM WHAT THE GFS/WRF SUGGESTS.
IN ANY EVENT…WITH A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF ENERGY TO HIT THE MID
ATLANTIC COAST ON SUNDAY IT’S ALL BUT CERTAIN THAT MAJOR
    BOMBOGENISIS
WILL BE GENERATED LATE SUNDAY INTO MONDAY IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. THE SYSTEM WILL HAVE ENTRAINED COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF WATER ON ITS TRACK EAST ACROSS THE SOUTHERN STATES AND WITH
FURTHER DEVELOPMENT AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES OF WATER (TYPE
UNCERTAIN) TO BE DUMPED OVER OUR FORECAST AREA SEEMS FAIR TO
    ASSUME. “

     ”Bombogenesis”!?! That can’t be good.

  • hahaha! you sound like us old fogey’s!

  • Man I am sitting here feeling pretty bad for you!! All it’s doing here is raining. But it is FREAKING cold out there.

Hope you are able to still have a good day.

  • Hmmmm….but Operation Rum and Coffee seems to have been a success!!!

  • oh man…i can’t imagine how crappy that must be.  i was moaning about the rain and 40′s here…so, i can only imagine how much that must utterly suck.

  • Roaring with laughter her ein Florida. Can you hear me??? Ha! You guys are funny! I like you plan B  better anyways! :wink-wink:

  • You think this is the end or what? :big-smile:

  • booooo.  april is no place for snow, dammit.

  • Perhaps had you left out the coffee, things would have gonna better! Hilarious.  And yet, so not fun for you.  Blessings abound

  • Julie, are you telling me that we are getting ANOTHER STORM!!!!! :what:

  • Ok, I am ROFL at that word but holy smokes, seriously? Are you supposed to get THAT nailed? Ugh – how’s T at repairing plows? This is SO now fun in April, but I am *sure* you will manage to find something worthy in this. I’ll stay tuned over the weekend – :what:

  • Bombogenesis??? I’m skeered for you. I’m sorry. ((((HUGS))))

  • Hey,at least you tried!!!:celebrate:

  • Sounded like a good plan to me. LOL I saw that there was snow happening in New England. In fact Vermont made it on our news yesterday complete with pictures of the said snow.

    Hugs’n'Smooches!

  • Bombogenesis definitely does not sound good.  Not good at all.  Even worse is that they said “major” bombogenesis.

  • Did you look up bombogenisis?  I didn’t!  Hugs and warm thoughts being sent out to ya’ll.

  • :celebrate: :sleepy:

  • Yikes!
We ended up just getting mostly rain.

  • I hope when summer finally reaches you, it is good and long and hot!

  • Bombogenisis?  Hmmmm

All that water should wash away all that snow, hopefully not your driveway.

I have exceptional faith that after this most recent snowstorm, winter is done and snow is on the way.  Must nag husband to till the garden and build chicken coop.

ryc- Dog’s name is Muppy and she’s a rat terrier beagle mix.  I don’t remember the ancestor’s name, but I think she’s a Seabright from way back.

  • :not-talking: Well boo to that!

  • Well, glad you are making the best of it!! April snow bombs sounds not so fun, but I shall refrain from talking about the weather over here on the opposite side of the country for fear of making you hate me ;)

  • The best laid plans of mice and men! And ACK at the bombogenisis…who in the world thought that word up??

  • I just ahve to say that you have ALL your favorite songs on your website!!!  Our musical tastes must be VERY similar.  I like to turn on your website sometiems and just listen to the music :) .

    Melissa

  • Nor’easter.  It’s New England’s snow hurricane.  quick- find a plane to anywhere warm and GO!!!!!!!!!  Blessings abound

  • Wow, you guys try and stay warm

  • I stumbled upon your site via Tabitha some time ago and have read you many times.  I noticed your daughter’s shirt with the Common Ground logo on it which wast interesting to me as my parents go each year with my brother and his family.  I looked at your photography and there is my niece!  For privacy I won’t say their names but I’ll tell you she is the sweetest little baby with the biggest dimple on her chin, just like her Dad.  Well, her Dad usually has a beard so you may not know he has one… What a small world it is.

    Good luck with the snow!

  • :what: How much snow?!?!:what:

No, bombogenisis cannot be good!  Hehe.  Thank goodness you have such a terrific sense of humor!

  • Oh, that just CAN’T be real. Someone must be messing with you!! Bombogenesis??? I have never been through a bombogensis and right now, I am very thankful for that.

That is sick, scary, mean, nasty and horrible all rolled into one.

  • hehe I could have predicted that the coffee and rum would not have ended in a tamped-down driveway… Hope you’ve got lots of firewood and have a great ol’ bombogenesis rocking time snowed in!!

  • I think spring took a break

  • I know it’s coming, my knees ache horribly already. Bombogensis, Northeaster, just get it over already!!

As long as we get rain out of it I’m happy. So sick of the snow.

    Have a great weekend!

  • Drink another rum and coffee, and that word will be so fun to say!

  • I feel your pain!
