     Snow, Wonderful Mail, Kool-aid, & Self Portrait Monday

    (with exciting news at bottom)

    ~~~~~
    It is snowing on the 2nd of April and while I am craving spring deeply, I don’t mind.  It is only weather and the snow makes for interesting light as the sun falls on the worn wood floors.  A few more days to curl up by the fire will not harm us; there are still board games to play and cookies to bake and books to read.
    Mail Goodness
    My Mil is selling her home and has been sending us boxes of amazing things in preparation for her move.
    She sent Roo a box of vintage doll clothing (some from the 50′s and some from the 40″s)
    She sent this wonderful cream and sugar set that belonged to Trevor’s Grandmother
    it’s love, I tell you
    Kool-Aid As Dye
    Jesse wanted to dye his hair blue with kool-aid but it turned greenish and mostly colored his skin
    (he considers this a fringe benefit)
    Self Portrait Bonus (left over from last month)
    Exciting News
    We are getting the windmill!  Do you remember a while back when I talked about getting a grant for one? The engineers are coming tomorrow to survey the land and look for the best spot to put it. How exciting is that?!  This means so much to me, I cannot tell you how thrilled I am. Now all this hot air coming out of my mouth will be put to practical use.
              P.S. I am not sure who won the poll over at the theologians cafe but it was very close at 10:00 I just read that I lost by three votes but I am so grateful to all of you for voting and supporting me.  How lucky am I ?!
    You Rock, and I raise my coffee mug to you.
    Horray, I think I’m first! If Zanga lets me anywho.
    I hope you won!!!
  • Less than one percentage point is a virtual tie, right? Besides, what do we get except the right to proclaim ourselves Queen for the Day, and I can do that anyhow.
    You are getting a windmill? We live in the windiest spot ever, I think, and I’ve often thought about looking into the children building one, except I’m engineeringly challenged and am not sure where to start. Do you have any suggestions?
    Green skin is a definite bonus.
  • Yeah for getting the windmill! The doll clothes remind me of the ones my aunt made for my Chatty Cathy in the early 60′s. My doll and I had matching Little Bo Peep outfits! LOL! P.S. Thank you so much for your thoughts. ((((HUGS))))
  • What fun those old doll clothes would be!  And they look she took really good care of them.  The windmill sounds awesome.  I’m so glad it’s working out for you.
    I enjoyed the privilege of voting for you, and in my book, you’re the winner.  I tried to go to Theologians Cafe but it looks like they shut down the site?????
  • Thanks for stopping by my site! I must admit, your enchanting curls have enticed me to say hello for some time now, but I have been shy because I know how famous and adored you are around these parts. For some reason, I feel like I need to have a baby in hand before I reach out to other MDC mamas (although I’ve been an MDCer for some time now). It’s all very silly, I know. I can’t believe I didn’t come to visit you earlier. Your photography is breathtaking!
    Congrats on the windmill! I don’t know anyone with a windmill … all the more reason for me to stop by your site more often!
  • thanks for that pic of not biting off more than you can chew…I need that one here at work….i was just in a meeting with my boss promising the same thing…now I’ve got a visual to go with it!!!
  • yay for your windmill!
  • No, YOU rock!
    Beautiful cream and sugar set. Silver? Pewter?
    I’d like to learn more about your windmill (or is that old news?). This weekend brought a flood of more scary news about global environmental challenges, and hearing about positive steps, like your windmill, is a song.
  • A windmill! Awesome! :grin:
  • I love the vinatge doll clothes and….yeah a windmill, THAT is cool!!!
  • I’m insanely curious about the windmill…jealous and curious. :big-smile:
  • Hi!  Just dropping in from Dan’s site.  Love your blog!
    Beth
  • Hooray for windmills!  I can’t wait to see the progress as it goes in.
    Enjoy your treasures from your MIL!  She sent some good ones!
  • ooh ahhh… a windmill!!!
    so tell me…how does one go about getting a windmill? i want to convince my grandfather to get one on his farms in Iowa – can’t wait to hear all about its story.
  • the vintage doll clothes are gorgeous.  what a treat!
    wow…i love windmills.  i love the wind-farms that are here and there, full of white, three pronged wind-turbines.  i know some people think they are ugly but i think they are majestic and hypnotising.  if i lived in the countryside i wouldn’t mind them as a view from my window!
    cool smilies! :so-cool:
  • Great mail!!! We MUST know if you won,will they notify you??????? Lucky windmill lady!!
  • Good tidings and great pics. Thanks for sharing.
  • Windmill = YAY!!!! That’s so super exciting!
    When I was in high school, we would dye our hair with KoolAid. We mixed several packets of the stuff (the packets that come without the sugar added) with just enough water to turn it into a paste. Then, we’d comb it into our hair. The color was most vivid when the dye powder was left in, but the dye would last through a couple washings (if you had lightish hair) but the big downside was that it is sticky. I don’t have experience with the blue colors, but red would take pretty well.
    By the way, you’re one of the coolest moms ever.
  • treasures!! does roo have dollies to fit into those gorgeous clothes?  AND  w0w — your very own windmill!  what will it’s job be?
  • formerprincess: why, to amuse me by fluffing up my hair and making me feel like Sophia Lauren riding in a convertible, of course! :ROTFL:
    seriously though, it will provide us with clean electricity and help reduce our dependency on outside sources of power.
    Roo has a few dolls to dress up and my MIL sent her Dy Dee Baby from the 40′s along with the clothes, as well.
  • Love the self portrait!  And you *know* you’re a winner with all of us!
  • darnit, i *went* to that website to vote for you, but i couldn’t figure out where to do it. i knew i should have poked around more. :steamed: and good on you for having that great attitude about snow in april. i myself got a slight tan on saturday… ;)
  • you would have won if it would have let greg vote from my computer too, those scalawags!
    you’re the winner in my eyes!
    this summer, you should lighten jesse’s hair with lemon juice and then try the koolaid dye! i bet it would work better then.
  • Heard you had an awesome site and it’s true!  Love all your pictures!  I love photography, I think it’s the best art form out there because it’s real.  I’ll be back for sure!
  • I still think yours is the best site *** for heart *** for photography and *** for YOU!  me
  • chickens and a windmill?  You suck.
    JUST KIDDING!  :ROTFL:
  • The windmill is so exciting!
  • You rock girl. Even if you didn’t win (I shouldn’t have left for the weekend…there went about two votes. :( )you are still number one with us here! *hugs*
    How does the kool-aid dye work? Joey wants to do his hair green and I told him that once I figured it out, I would let him.
    Love the pics, as always! And congrats on the windmill!!
  • you’re photography is really amazing
    what type and model of camera do you use?
  • A windmill is so cool! They’ve been scouting around our area in order to put up some wind turbines in order to save on energy costs. California has been doing this for years, I think the east coast is just a bit behind the times…
  • Geez, only three.  Phewy.
    Those vintage clothes look so lovely.  Hooray for your windmill!  That is great news!
  • lethologica x : I use an EOS Canon digital Rebel XT 8mp
  • I love the self portrait! I need one like that framed in my house as a reminder. We dyed Reagan’s hair with kool-aid one year for Halloween. She was naked in the bathtub with gorgeous red “Josie from the Pussycats” hair, but she looked like she’d been beaten in the process…her entire body was freshly smacked pink.
    I am jealous of the windmill. That is too cool. I love the doll clothes and cream and sugar holders! Beeeaaauuutifull.
  • Congratulations on the windmill. That is wonderful news. Sorry about the contest but second place is still more than respectable.
  • What great treasures from your MIL! I should have voted every single day! I’m sorry! I was Student Body President & it wasn’t anything to brag about:hammer:!
  • Congratulations on the windmill!
  • A windmill…how cool is that!
    Sorry you didn’t win.
    The treasures from you MIL are lovely!
  • Well, dang… I missed it. I’m glad you didn’t lose by one vote, ’cause I would have felt guilty…
  • Your number one in my book!!  Please share more information about your windmill, our company provided portable toilets for a windmill farm and I have some cool pictures of them.  I love the old doll clothes and the cream and sugar set, beautiful…
