  • Homekeeping ABC Meme

    (stolen borrowed from the delightful emilymr )

    Aprons - Y/N? yes, I am a messy, messy cook and lurve my (ugly) aprons.

    Baking - Favorite thing to bake:  cookies, with everything in them, nuts, berries , chocolate, dried fruits, you name it.

    Clothesline - Y/N?  yes, it is all we use 95% of the time (even in winter!)

    Donuts - Have you ever made them?   no but I have eaten them and "made" them into fat on my bum, all by myself thankyouverymuch.

    Freezer - Do you have a separate deep freeze?  Yes and it is about half full now from last summer's harvest.

    Garbage Disposal - Y/N?  huh?  We have a dog and a compost bucket.

    Handbook - Joy of sex (?)

    Ironing - Love it or Hate it?  Loathe it! I am not one who irons.  I burned my eye with a curling iron in 1991 and have not had any type of plug in iron since.

    Junk Drawer - Y/N?  I wish it were only a drawer. HA!

    Kitchen - Color and decorating scheme? Colors  deep french blue with white cabinets and plank floors. Decorating scheme? French Chaotic with a hint of chem lab 101.

    Love - What is your favorite part of homemaking?   Clean sheets!!! They make me giddy, I tell you!

    Mop - Y/N?   Mop shmop, I sweep and occaisionally wash by hand.

    Nylons -   yeah, right.

    Oven - Do you use the window or open the door to check?  I open the door.

    Pizza - What do you put on yours?   Mushrooms and garlic.

    Quiet -yes, please, quiet would be nice.  bahahaha!

    Recipe card box - Y/N ?   no but 25-30 cookbooks which I use for inspiration.

    Style of house - old 1820's cape

    Tablecloths and napkins - Y/N?  yes, cloth.

    Under the kitchen sink - Organized or toxic wasteland?  nothing really under there, only sponges and paintbrushes and industrial sized vinegar for cleaning EVERYTHING.

    Vacuum - yes, please, that would be nice, thanks.

    Wash - How many loads of laundry do you do per week?  Trev does most of the laundry and it appears that he does a TON but I do not keep track, I am too busy eating bonbons and washing my hair.

    X's - Do you keep a list of things to do that you cross off?   I hate lists, I make them and then resent them for telling me what to do (stupid, I know, because I made them but...)

    Yard - Y/N? Who does what?   We both mow the lawn/s and we have the fields cut by a neighbor.

    Zzz's - What is your last homemaking task before going to bed?  Eat the last cookie, flush the toilet and make sure there is enough wood in the woodbox.

    It's a rough life but somebody has to live it.

    Wee Morning Vignette

    (in the family bed)

    Jesse:"Arrgh, Roo is squishing me! Cut it out, Roo, you are bumping me too much and you smell like cheese and not good cheese either, you smell like really old and stinky cheese that is all dried up and all it has left inside it is the stinking ole' rotten smell!"

    Roo: "I like cheese, it's good."

    well, there you have it.

  • Only Because You Asked

    ~~~~~
    To answer a few questions:
    • 5-6 days was long enough to absorb a great deal but barely long enough to adjust to the time change (6 hours).  I would not go longer though, as this was the longest I could stand to be away from my family.
    • I want to take another trip somewhere far away and new in a few years or whenever I can save up enough to go. Don't know where yet, the world is a big place. But I will do this again; it was amazing for my spirit and has given me such a needed boost.  And I want to see it all, all of it!!! I do!
    • Thr kids and Trev did fine although Trevor had a rough week; we had a big snowstorm and he had to plow our massive driveway with both kids in the plowtruck and then tipped the truck nose-end of the edge of the drive and was stuck (blocking the unplowed driveway) for a day and a half until a neighbor could come and help dig it out.   On the fourth day, T and Jesse were sledding and they dumped and Trevor dislocated his finger and had to go the emergency room with the kids, etc.  But they did fine, the kids missed me but had some special time just with Daddy and they loved that.
    • and now I can be with my babes and smell their heads and hold them and this is just the thing.
    Fin.
    even the rain is perfect.
  • Le Hair
    (because you asked)
    While I will only occasionally  rarely  never find the hour it took to have this french bob styled and dried like it should be, I like it either way.
    And the neck massage and facial that came with it made me want to marry the gentleman who had me asleep in the chair.
    even mommies should feel pretty now and again.
