Wool, Whipped Cream And Other Stuff
~~~~~
To answer a few questions:
-
my MIL had this wool washed and the rest (to come later) will be turned into roving at a mill.
How to card wool:
you take the locks and lay them thinly and evenly on one carder and then drag another carder across it in the opposite direction until the wool is cleaner and the fibers lined up nicely.
lovely
and then you can take it off the carder for spinning or felting or what-have-you. I am going to use some of this for doll making and plan on dying some this summer (and have hopes for a spinning wheel in the next few years)
I am also pulling out the very best locks to save for doll hair
More boobettes (these are from the past few days)
all my mermaids are pregnant and I have no idea why
if I were to make a boobette for Megan Mullally, it would look like this one
see?
For those who asked, our mushrooms are from a kit, you can buy them online from a number of places and the kids love watching them grow!!
whipped cream is always good
this child is changing before my eyes
Jesse’s new shield
And more snow!!!
(this is looking from our bedroom window down the hill, the driveway is on the left)
I am quiet and happy and rested and pleased.
Look at that girl — that smile. She is becoming a woman so fast – where are her baby cheeks? *sob*
If all your mermaids are pregnant, it is something in the water! LOL! Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Glad you had a good day and you are rested. Life is good.
A spinning wheel… lovely.
Look at that swanky necklace! You are hot Mama!
I remember carding wool with my Gramma…she was a shepard when younger before moving to Canada…I have pictures of her spinning wheel…
Do mushrooms grow anywhere? I have never heard of people growing them themselves! I LOVE mushrooms!
I also want a bedroom view similar to yours!
Your life is dreamy!
Did you cut your hair? Did I miss that? It looks great, btw… love the necklace.
wow, that is a lot of winter you still have there!
and your Roo is definitely looking more grown-up these days
We’ve got daffodils blooming, windows open all day, trees in bloom…and you’re still in winter. Glad you’re “quiet and happy and rested and pleased.” It’s a great place to be.
I am absolutely enthralled with your dolls. I am just learning how to needle felt and I absolutely want to make a doll like that! Wow!
I see a pleasant place. Your kids are so cute, and your photo at the window is stunning.
The first Boobette looks just like you (pre Paris haircut)!
the very best locks for the dolls hair look lovely. i imagine them feeling soft and silky…
How do mermaids get pregnant? As a fish, surely they lay eggs. But if that’s the case, why do they have breasts? Maybe they are like the platypus?
Yummy pics. I love the one with Roo and whipped cream.
You have a delicious and lovely life!
spring and pregnancy go well together…
how long does your kit produce mushrooms for? i am wanting to innoculate logs to put in our orchard and was considering a kit as a starting point to get the hang of it.
definitely must be something in the water with the mermaids!
I love the necklace! A nice visit here as always.:)
My daughter didn’t wonder at the mermaid’s bellyful of baby. She only wondered about the green spiral. What does Roo say about the boobettes?
I love the new boobettes!
The babyness is quickly fading from Roo’s face. She’s blossoming.
Pregnant mermaids, hhhmmm? Must be something in the water.
I must have a boobette. Soon.
As always, you made me smile today…thank you. Lisa
Roo is becoming a beautiful young lady. It happens fast. It was 74 degrees today and our garden is getting tilled and am I glad to say goodbye to winter.
Beautiful boobettes. Carding wool is such a wonderful activity for kids. I want to get the tools soon for my boys. You have a real knack for hair.
Hello?…
Sailors are ! ! H O T ! !
and Mermaids *know* it
Maybe the mermaids live in San Francisco. Everyone is pregnant there! And Skyliz brings up a good point. But they are beautiful, and that is all that matters.
How wonderful your life is (=
We love puzzles at our house.
I had been thinking about one of those mushroom kits but didn’t know how well they would work. I will have to order one.
She really is growing up, isn’t she?
Adding this: Emmylou is great on this album too!
