Oh, I LOVE the big-grin Jesse shot!! And I hate unpacking, too — but not because of lingering vacation air, just because of laziness.
I tried combing and spinning fleece… I don’t any more because I discovered just how uncoordinated I was. Would have been easier if I were abidextrous.
I wish I had your days… Can I be adopted? Please?!? LOL
Hugs’n'Smooches!
Cute pictures! Jesse should consider keeping the red streaks.
Good luck with the fleece.
I had cake with milk for lunch, it was goooooooddddd.
I’ve always wanted to learn how to card wool and spin. It just sounds so romantic to me. That is one heck of a list – what a productive day. Cheesecake is loaded with protein – sounds like a good way to start the day. And why is it the messier kids get the happier they are?
Ya, seriously, do you want a 28 year old daughter? Just let me know!
Also, is it me, or is your Mother in law really cool?
What an awesome day. You have created such idyll and simple joy for you and yours. Great, great job!
Love the breakfast…….
How does one card wool?
Wonderful day; from cheesecake to snuggles..mmm
such a busy day, how do you find time to fit it all in? will you be making wool from the fleeces and knitting with it? i have tried to knit but got no further than your basic square!
Your mil rocks! Jesse and Roo’s are way too artsy just for their easels, LMAO
i have been carting around fleece from two sheep for 4 years…i am finally breaking down and sending it to a fiber mill for carding.
you are a superstar!!
there is a gooft folk tale called “old one eye” about a granny lady carding wool who scares off some robbers thus saving her village from EVIL! I’ll try to find you a copy.
Yummy yummy and yummy! I love it all.
Very cool artwork! And cheesecake…yum! I don’t seem to have the strength these days for the uber-messy art projects. Too bad because it is a lot of fun for the kiddos. Must pull it together…
Oh, we have the same bathtub. I love it!
What budding artistes you have!
That fleece looks yummy… have fun with it!!
combing fleece is meditative to me. i also like to fleck it…great to get out any built-up anger!
Sometimes, do you go near your suitcase just to sniff that beautiful Paris air?
)
I just had the realization (duh) that you often desribe your days and there’s no need for me to ask you what a “typical” day is. Grow mushrooms? How do you do that? Oh Julie, I wish you lived here…I have this enormous space to garden in and I don’t have a clue how to even start. Any suggestions? I want to grow veggies! I can see you becoming a quick expert on carding wool. My mom is a weaver and when I was a teenager she used to do quite a bit of that and was in to spinning too. She’s kind of left that part behind but is still and awesome weaver. Anyway, I remember that the thing I thought was soooo amazing was that she would dye that wool after she had carded it and spun it w/ just about anything natural that would work, and there are so many choices. Beets was a favorite color to me. Blueberries, tea…you know…stuff that stains. Have you dabbled in dyeing yet? You probably have and I’ve probably just missed it.
Indeed good! Those are some happy, painted babes!
I always wanted to try mushrooms. Once I get myself settled *somewhere*, I might hit you up for some advice.
i drool for that fleece.
Children know how to get into their art!
That fleece is beautiful. Did she wash it for you? Will you spin it or dye it?
Blah, blah, white sheep! What a life you lead – home from paris and growing mushrooms – what extremes!!
Carding wool – is it bad that I don’t know what that means??
It looks like so much fun at your house! Good luck carding your wool!
