  • ETA: At Bottom

    Sadness

An unschooling friend here in Maine has a 9 year old daughter who has been battling Leukemia for the past few years and the girl (Jossilyn) is now out of remission and struggling with few options remaining.  Her mother has 6 children at home and an ex-husband who is not able to offer support.

The Maine unschoolers group I belong to is doing everything we can to support this family, including gathering items to sell or donations or any amount.

Here is the website and the info on how to donate is at the bottom.

(I have donated a doll and photography session)

You can donate an item by contacting Laura with a picture and description and price and then ship it directly to the purchaser when it sells (Laura will send you a note with an address).

I have never posted anything like this before but would love to help this wonderful family out in any way I can.

Last night I received a note from a fellow Xangan (who shall remain nameless on the chance she desires anonymity). She expressed her desire to help this family out and she is willing to fly here to my home in order to purchase the photo session I donated for this family.

    How amazing is that?!?!?!

My heart brims with the generosity of others.

  • I have a cousin who passed away at the age of 11 from Leukemia. It is a truly awful disease. We will be unpacking all of our things over the next week or two. If this is still going on I would be happy to sell several items.

  • As the mother of a nine yr old daughter, this really touched me. I’m going to figure out how to help.

  • As my 5 year old nephew also has childhood leukemia(in remission),I know too well what that does to a family. A single Mother with no support I cannot begin to know. You helped them with you post, that is alot..

  • This is the third case of childhood lukemia I’ve heard about recently.  I’m so sorry for them.  I will visit the website.  And will send prayers.  You’re such a kind person.

  • My thoughts and Prayers are with this family through this terrible frightening time.  What a wonderful thing your doing Julie!  You are a Blessing!

Hey, would you sell me some more maple syrup? My mom accidentally threw out the jar you were so wonderful to give me :) I will even pay in advance for some from this year’s batch, if you’re out.

  • That is truly amazing. There are some very wonderful people out there.

  • *Cry*.  I’m so sad for this family.   As we go through our things during the move I’ll be keeping my eyes open for those to donate to them.  In the meantime I’m sending all ~peace~ from my heart to theirs this night.

  • Poor baby…I am in as well.  You are really helping to make a difference.

  • tht is truely heartbreaking. I’m afraid I don’t have anything to send but my prayers… and I send many.

  • This is very heart wrenching.  She will be in my prayers as will the whole family.  Tell the mystery person, that God will truely bless him/her for their good dead.  It brought tears to my eyes thinking what they’re doing to help raise money.

  • I have been thinking about this little one all day. Having dealt with childhood cancer 1st hand, that is still fresh, I’m so hoping for good news and peace for this family.

I will email you later, I’m foggy and unsure of just what I need to do, but I would like to list a hand made custom crystal mothers bracelet and donate the $… maybe a few… I want to list… maybe you can help me figure it out.

Thanks so much for bringing this to us to be able to help.
