  • Self Portrait Challenge

    (January’s challenge: take a self-portrait of your resolutions)

    SPC!

    ~~~~~
    As I have said before, I am not one to make resolutions.
     However, I always have small things I am hoping to change in my life and now is no exception.
    I would like to find more time to be silent.
    At the end of the day, when small ones are sleeping, I would like to learn how to relax in full silence;
    no music, no singing, no books on tape, no movies
    just clean and quiet thoughts.
    I am unsure what I might find there, but am willing to try
    and see.
  • You are beautiful, Julie!
  • Silence is so calming. Funny how we don’t seek it more often.
    Cute clippie.
  • Bits of silence are wonderful.
  • I’m not so good with silence either…something I should try and see. And yes cute clip!
  • As moms, silence can be the most neglected need we have.
  • I would have to practice that one as well.
  • Wow, I haven’t ever given that too much thought, about after noon or evening quiet time… but I think I might be afraid of what I would find in my silence, it might be unsettling for me in this place in my life… hehe! But I know when all is well, early in the am, is the BEST time to find and ENJOY silent time… for which I still do on a regular basis… try having a cup or hot tea and sitting under a favorite tree, porch, hammock or even a chair near a window… and I am NOT a morning person… well  maybe a little, because I do love them I just seem to miss the early part of them a lot LOL!… but I love to wake gently on my own and to do this it requires me to wake myself, which is usualy left up to a kiddling ;) But the birds, the morning light, everything still quiet aside of nature… now that is GOOD for the soul :) Once you do it … it’s almost addicting :)
    …and after all that tapping on my keyboard— Your picture is BeAuTiFuL!!! (As always)
  • A great thing to try. I used to ALWAYS have the music on, or the t.v. or be talking, etc. Now I am okay with the quiet. It’s kind of nice. Hope you enjoy it, too. :)
  • I just have to say I love you. I look forward to visiting your site. I wish you many peaceful, beautiful discoveries in silence.:)
  • You know what they say….. silence is golden.  I could surely use some.
    You are beautiful as usual.
  • Total peace and quiet is heavenly…in little bits. Good luck and hope you embrace it.
  • It’s wonderful.
    Beautiful picture!
  • good luck!  i find it terrifying.
  • (um. silence that is; not your lovely visage)
  • Great idea! Right now the little ones are asleep and my husband is working and I could go meditate (or fold the laundry) But it is enjoyable (and quicker) to connect in blog land when the house is quiet!
  • I get that with yoga, and sometimes with knitting, if the needles aren’t making too much noise LOL
    It’s amazing where your thoughts go.
  • I know you will find wonderful things in the silence afterall you will be there! :)
  • What I like about the silent times is the lack of drama.  Books, music, tv- they all revolve around emotional drama and excitement, mostly other people’s angst and joy.  I’m finally able to appreciate a lack of drama without translating it as boredom.  Then I can better identify my own, my own authentic, joys and anxieties, not take on the angst of others.
    I think all that fictional drama, (or non-fiction but not mine), is a valuable “spice”, but like most spices, should be used in moderation.
  • Thats are great pic of you,fab natural lighting! I was going to post something similar for next weeks challenge,I better think of something else!
