  • The Good, The Mediocre & The Somewhat Shocking

    (2006 holiday edition)

    The Good

    • the Christmas Eve tingle

    • The love

    • the cookies

    • the board games

    • the funny hats

    • the afternoon naps

    • the wild and crazy holiday boogie in the kitchen

    • clean down blankets and sheets

    • the candlelight

    • the homemade pizza, crafted by my sweet husband

    • Jane Siberry’s holiday album “Child”

    The Mediocre

    • the “tingle” is a bit much for the kids who have been alternating between tears and shrieks of joy all afternoon

    • the cookies are also a bit much for the kids and they are riding the sugar train (with frequent stops and occasional crashes)

    • we are out of cheese

    The Somewhat Shocking

    • Roo climbed into the TV armoire to get closer while she was watching something on the boob tube and peed in there, all over the videos and wood and electronics.    Egads, this was a first, for sure.

I’m off, must wear the kids out so they fall asleep at a reasonable hour; then Trevor and I can be Mr. and Mrs. Mischievous while drinking nog and finishing the cookies and causing all sorts of Christmassy trouble. “Holiday mayhem”, he calls it.

It’s a tradition of troublemaking that goes back to our dating days.

Hope your Eve is delightful and full of love, sweets and all the mischief you desire.

  • i’d make mischief with you any day…
merry christmas to you all and to all a goodnight.
[its always amazing to me that were just getting going on our day, and you're half done]

  • Ah, my poor four year-old is going between weeping and dancing with joy….he hasn’t peed anywhere…but the night is young! Hope the kiddos can fall asleep so you and DH can have your holiday fun!

  • Holiday Mayhem?  Fun fun fun!

This season isn’t the same since my kiddos grew tall…

    Blessings to you :)

  • That certainly is shocking!  What a cleanup job.  You can only laugh about something like that.

The rest sounds good.  Our kids have been at extremes for the past week, in their pre-Christmas excitement.

  • You have such a fae face… like a faerie in disguise.

I made homemade pizza tonight too, and our day has been similar to yours as far as the sugar train goes.

Mine are almost asleep, a blessing from not getting enough sleep last night and I’m about to shower and go downstairs to cause a little mayhem myself.

Hope you have a wonderful evening and a beautiful Christmas tomorrow.

  • Poor Roo!  I’m sure that wasn’t a fun clean-up.

    Have a wonderful Christmas!

  • OMG that is a funny Roo story. I would have likely handled that with less enthusiasm than you surely did, but that’s why I learn much from your blog about perspective and attitude. She is a TOTAL doll. Happy holidays, you sneaky little elf you – enjoy time with Mr. Elf, LOL!

  • What kind of mayhem do you Christmas elves get into??

    Merry Christmas Eve to you!!
