    My Most Embarrassing Moment #8

    (in an unlimited series)

    ~~~~~
    I was working in a lovely shop in Maine 13 years ago and was responsible for opening and closing the store.
    This included turning all fans and lights on/off.
    There was a switch in the dressing room which was marked “do not touch”. I never touched the lever intentionally but one day I flipped it by accident as I was turning lights on and could not see what I was doing.
    The switch flipped on a fan which vented out the chimney of this three story building.
    The chimney had been stuffed (quite foolishly) with styrofoam peanuts as insulation.
    When I flipped the fan on, it blew three stories worth of styrofoam peanuts up into the sky causing them to rain/snow down on the entire downtown area.
    I was unaware of this until I looked outside and thought,
    “who is the GOOBER who let these styrofoam eggs blow all over town?”
    That would be me.
    ahem, yup.
