  • Crafts, Cookies, Craziness

    (the usual)

The Christmas craft production line is slowing here as we near completion.

I have finished these knitted/felted slippers

and these little felted ring holder baskets

And Trev and I have made a giant batch of homemade Kahlua to gift.

Today, the kids and I made ornaments for gifts and for our tree

    • out of salt dough to dry and paint

    • out of twigs and bark and lichen

    • out of little homemade paintings

    • I made some odd little felted creatures, not sure they are gift-able, they are rather freaky (I love them, though).

    Important highlights

    • grilled cheese in the shape of cows

    • Roo’s work in mixed media

    • Princess doings

    • happiness in long johns

    • listening to John Lithgow sing “From the Indes To The Andes in His Undies” 57 times while surrounded by small and whirling children.

    • Glee and general giddiness.

    • new socks

    • cookies, with everything.

    • love

Tomorrow I have another newborn photo shoot, I cannot believe how freaking lucky I am!

pinch me, pinch me. pinch me.

    (please?)

    SNORT.

  • Okay, now I can leave a real comment… gah!  Kahlua, homemade/  Why don’t I have this recipe?  Yum!

I have sworn off my knitting needles until I finish something…anything…with a crochet hook.  I can do this.  I must do this!

    (((hugs)))

  • i have to say that grilled cheese is the cutest sandwich ever. ever!

and goodness your kids are sweet!

  • Hi, I came on from Kamolisa’s site with the intention of joining the holiday mixer (which I would still like, but only if you are still taking people) and instead I found your blog and really enjoyed it, in fact I think I shall sub. :) Your photos are beautiful, and your posts like the poetry of the mundane. Thanks for having a blog worthwhile reading. :)

  • oooooooh, can WE be gifted with homemade Kahlua??? (Well, me — DH doesn’t drink. But _I_ could be persuaded!)
    ;)

  • Yes, I was thinking (hint, hint) I would love to try some homemade Kahlua. Or perhaps you could share your beautiful photos online and I could feel lucky because you choose to share them with me. XOXO

  • Your profile photo is beautiful. I love the flash of naughtiness in your eyes.

Those slippers look so wonderful. What does “felted” mean?

    Happy day to you tomorrow!

  • I envy you the life you have. Not the kind of green with envy envy…. I would love to be in such a place, growing or raising our food, the cooking the canning. If I could talk my husband into such a life we would have been there 5 years ago. He’s too into his modern conveniences to let go and live life as it’s meant to be lived.

Hugs’n'Smooches… love the photo’s as always!

  • those slippers are amazing!!! SO CUTE!!!!

  • How do you make kahlua?

I’d love to see the little freaky felties.

  • Oh, my gosh, I’m totally focused on Jesse’s elegant feet!  His toes are so LONG, just like my kiddos!

  • Jesse does have great feet. I am a Baileys girl at heart but I have this recipe that calls for Kahlua and Baileys…mmmm

It is nice to be able to relax. I just thought of several things I would like to make for gifts. It may be a bit late.

  • i have my grandmothers homemade kahlua recipe… i wonder if they are the same. my giftie production line is still truckin along but slowing because i am getting tired of knitting. at least i took the time out of it to do other gift things like tiny polymer clay angels and hands for the gift tags and melt and pour soap i doctored up today. now … more knitting…

  • Dude, you make kahlua? Julie = new best friend. heehee

  • Sounds like a wonderful day!

  • Gorgeous slippers. Can you post pics of the ornaments and felted figures? Do you bake the salt dough or just air dry it?

  • Love the pics of the kids.  Roo is full of princessy beauty.  Just beautiful.

Sounds like a fun, full, and oh so productive day!

  • Can you share the kahlua recipe????

And your kids are so beautioful, but you already know that I am sure ;)

  • I didn’t hear anything after Kahlua.

How do you make all of the “work” that you do sound so darn fun??? I think you are really Mary Poppins.

  • I want to see the freaky felt creatures!

Sounds like a wonderful day, and all the pictures are gorgeous!

  • You are BEYOND awesome!!  I love that longjohn pic !

  • WAAAAAAIT! I want pictures of the odd little felted creatures! You can’t carry on about odd little felted creatures and then withhold on the photographs. And… what are ring holder baskets? Are they, in fact, baskets in which to hold rings? Or what?

  • PINCH! That was the jealousy in action.

    HUGS! That was the love.

I don’t even need to tell you how much I love John Lithgow. That’s an obvious, right?

I want to see some freaky felted creatures, please.

  • I am really impressed with the way you do something fully and with intention. When we first me you were expressing a desire to learn how to knit. Today you are a knitting master!

Did you have a pattern for your felted slippers? And where are the odd little felted creatures?

  • Those yarn colors are amazing! Why do I get this picture in my head that you have an alpaca in the back yard, next to your wonderful vegetable garden, that you shear for its wool, and dye it yourself in those wonderful colors from the whatnots you find on your wonderful property! You truly are a rennaisance woman! I had to shut down my other blog (nasty stalkers!) but would love to sub to you under my new, totally unrecognizable childhood nickname! The kidlets are as beautiful as ever…   :o ) Midge
