Oh, we are so living!
ahem. chortle. sniffle.

ETA, I Guess I’m not done With This Post Yet
I’m trying to concentrate on the good things today as I am hormonally
perturbed, cranky, raging and feel like I could bite someone’s head off (and no particular person, either, just anyone who feels like looking at me funny). SIGH.
These are the trickiest of days; I try and suck it up so I’m bearable but I cannot always do this well. I tell the kids, “I’m having one of those cranky days but I’ll do my best, what would be fun to do so I can distract myself?”
Jesse says, “Let’s make smoothies!”
O.K., done.
And Roo says, “take my picture, look at me, mummy!”
O.K., I can do that.
And my heart tells me that a few minutes alone would do me good and when the kids go out in the rain with Trevor, I fix myself something delicious
and enjoy 15 minutes of peace.
homemade bread with yellow heirloom tomato slices and homemade goat cheese with herbs, broiled to perfection and accompanied by a heavenly glass of elderberry juice.
Because I matter, too, and a lovely meal restores me.
I know tomorrow will be better
but today turned out pretty good anyway.

A good friend told me several years ago, “Cleaning the house while children are growing, is like shoveling snow while it’s still snowing”. Have fun in the snow
.
That is a wonderful quote! I am somewhere in the middle…I hate the house in shambles, but don’t care enough to do much about it…You are definately living my dear, and it is wonderful to see!!!
xo
looks like mine some days! we like to live too.
Oh looks like fun! I want to come over and play.
Well our kiddoes would get along just fine
Tee-hee, does that scene ever look familiar!!
Wheeeee!
Let’s start our own commune.
Have soooo been there! LOL!
ooh.. that is SO just what I needed to hear !
we’re living right here with ya!
yum. i like your resorative solution
way to not give in and just be nasty to everyone – I need to remember the “what would be fun to do so I can distract myself?” Too often I just wallow in my crankiness.
I’m glad you day turned out well!
goat cheese and tomatoes – yum!
Roo is beginning to look more like a little girl and less like a toddler.
yum…
and yes you sure do matter.
I SO believe in this kind of medicine. Perfect!
I agree…you totally deserve to take 15 minutes for yourself and RELAX. By the way…the food looks amazing!
*givin you that “funny look bite my head off” kinda look* Huh? Guess now would not be the time to mention that I definitely don’t miss that hormonal crap. Hehehe
Guess it’s a good thing there are about 1800 miles (give or take) between us so I don’t have to keep my house door locked.
*hugs* As everyone keeps telling me, taking some “ME” time is necessary for all of us. You do deserve it… and having yourself that yummy treat certainly helps too.
Oh God you and yours are so Wonderful!
I know what you mean about five minutes with a meal to yourself. I just completed a bagel/cream cheese/rasberry jam meal while the girls are in the bath.
My whole house looks like that photo… we are well-lived in.
YES!!! A house that kinda looks like ours … with about 198,762 Hotwheels spread on the floor. I LOVE it. I can relate on the hormonal stuff (((HUGS))) I love the way you’re honest with the kids about the fact that you’re having a rough and let them help you find fun and loving ways to help you feel better – you are teaching them things that will help them throughout their lives – about empathy, caring, living, and coping. http://momof3feistykids.homeschooljournal.net/
you so made me teary eyed.
I really needed to read this today.
I’m glad that you took a little time for yourself; we ALL need and deserve it.
I can’t believe that Roo is changing and growing so very much. Tell her to slow down!
A hard day, handled beautifully. I need to learn this skill from you. We are PMSing at the same time. WE rock!
I LOVE that quote about a house unkept. I am sending that out in my Christmas cards this year. Beautiful.
i am having one of those days too. actually make that week.
and that yumminess looks well yummy. every woman needs to make time for just her; so well done
I learn so much from you! And it does appear that goat cheese is a cure for pms symptoms…
((((hugs))))
I am now going to model all of my bad days after yours. How wonderful, spontaneous, joyous, optimistic, wise AND yummy!!!
Love the pics! It looks like a day well spent!
I can relate.
That’s the best looking smoothie I’ve ever seen!
I haven’t had much me time lately. Your post reminded me that I need to force my family to let me have some.
I can’t even tell you how much I loved this entry!
Some of my friends are past the hormone shift days and I am really beginning to look forward to that. It’s so good on those days to do something really caring for yourself. I’ve got to bake some bread again, now that it isn’t 100 degrees outside anymore. Yours looks so wonderful.
Hugs, Julie. Everything looks comfortable, joyous, and yummy…even if you temporarily don’t feel that way.
Even the hormal rage passes…like one, big, labor contraction…ride the wave!!! (-:
First of all, your home looks beautiful! I looooove that red paint on the walls! And that meal looks so delicous!
The food looks incredible and that middle pic of Roo is WOW!
Our floors look like that much of the time….
What is it about kids that makes a mom want to eat?
the meals look lovely and the house looks alright too! when I am overwhelmed in this manner, I take to bed! “mommy needs about a half an hour of quiet.” afterwards I can come out and be a whirlwind of cleaning…but in the meantime, they enjoy the chaos of the mess with no pestering from me, I get some rest and then some focused clean..
but food is good too…
Oh so nice. Those pics of Roo make me smile and laugh. Wonderful. I want that food. I am not cranky. Just going through the back to school transition and confused. So I’m drinking a smoothie and reading your blog. That’s pretty good. Does the mess get you down? Or is it just the hormones? I am bucking the paragraph tradition today. And reading blogs while listening to Cast On podcast. I can read and listen too!
Hey, Random Props =].
ps. u have a pretty cool xangaaa
xx.
hehe, looks like my home! What a wonderful dinner. Goat Cheese!!! YUMMY
Ha, your house looks like my house!
My lunch does not look as good as yours, though.
I must have caught your crankies, because I am feeling particularly ornery today.
You. Rock. Period.
I had one of those days as well. What was the moon like? I could have sworn it was a full one. Grrrr.. but your delish meal with heavenly juice sounded right on the spot. You amaze me
.
well for whatever it is worth i think you are a good mam and your kdis look happy and healthy.

Can you send me the recipie for the goat cheese. I would love to make it. My son and daughter can only eat Goat milk products so I am always looking for good things to try
I hope your days are better.
