    The Berry of the Day

     (and other stuff)

    blueberries

    and their resulting concoctions

    And leeks

    and delicata squash

    and then,  jumping boys

    and happy dogs

and then it rains and you play in it and you look like this:

    A Warning

If you live within 100 miles of me and you hear a knock on your door and then laughter, beware!!!

It is probably me, delivering excess squash, cukes and zucchini to your door and then running away.

DO NOT BE AFRAID, FOR IT IS ONLY VEGETABLES.

  • those are so gorgeous vegetables. i have some squash plants in my backyard, but so far, I haven’t spotted any veggies yet!

  • Yummy, I think I’m a little beyond the 100 miles, poo!

  • Oh, yum.  I’m out of range, too, drat the luck!

  • I wish I lived close enough!

  • You are more than welcome to knock on my door (imagining being less than 100 yars away)

  • In my next life, I would like you very much to be my garden yoda… teaching me all you know about it and the canning and preserving and the concoctions. I love concoctions.
    You rock, sistah.

  • why not w/in a 1000 miles???? my garden is lacking in produce other than tomatoes…i could use some squash and zukes!

when i was a kid, we used to have rains that were playable. not anymore though. it sucks. i’ll have to live vicariously through you.

  • Yum! Everything looks so perfect, especially the jumping boy!

  • How I wish I lived within 100 miles.  The veggies would be wonderful but not near as lovely as chasing you down the lane.

Your harvest is so grand.  Love the pic of Jesse jumping.

  • MMM….blueberries!  And I wish you could email me some of those vegis . . .   Love the pictures!

  • Love Love Love the garden pictures!

  • bahahaha.  now send me your address, again s’il vous plait.

  • ….and when you giggle and run away, I’ll sneak around to your car and put some just made bread in the passanger seat, telling the kids to say it was the bread fairy. (-:

You are the embodiment of the Mother Earth Of Plenty.

    Blueberrries…yum!

  • You are phenomenal – your blueberry crisp looks devine – as do your leeks.  Mmmmm – I have a great recipe for leek and potato soup.  Yum.

Thank you for your words.  It means more than I can say.  I am physically safe, just emotionally unsafe.

  • I LOVE blueberries!! And the creation looks delicious. I use to love picking blueberries while in Maine or New Hampshire. *pouts* Now I wish I lived within a 100 miles of you. Hey, Florida is a nice place to visit… Hehehehe

  • Man, I think that I need to move closer! Everything looks perfect! And thanks to you, I will now be making blueberry muffins in the morning. lol

  • Everything looks delicious! If only I lived within 100 miles of you!

I love your new haircut. It looks perfect for summer. I’m going to donate mine again soon, so it will probably be close to the same length. It will be a lot different, but I just think of how nice it will feel to have just a little hair instead of a lot.

  • good gor! and it was as much as I could muster to get my butt into the car and deliver a few cakes. And now I’m wide awake again. I was telling G it would be the coolest if you came to visit. But at the very least, I’m sending you foodstuffs at some point.

  • I played in the rain this weekend too…it was fabulous!  Havea  great weekend

  • I wish we DID live within a 100 miles of each other!

  • Those look wonderful!!  I have a good chocolate zucchini cake recipe too.  I made some blueberry syrup the other day for J’s pancakes (ran out of maple — I bet that’s never happened to you) and it was WONDERFUL!!

  • spain’s too far??  dang.

OOo, one night in the co-op last summer when WE had a surplus of zucchini, we made mock apple pie – which is… apple pie but sub in zukes (and cinnamon) for apples – QUITE tasty

    bueno

  • I will not be afraid, I love  your veggies! And  if you come before Monday I will even invite you in for some tea and fun activities.

  • I wish I lived close. I would love those veggies!

  • Lovely veggies!

  • Awww, that doggie next to Lucy looks just like the sheltie I had growing up.

Thanks to the excess veggies from mom’s garden I am sworn off zucchini for life.

  • Ah I’m safe! But the neighbors here will soon be getting their share. Love all the pictures. Vegetables and childen grow well on your place!

  • Your kids are so lucky. Fresh fruits and veggies and a mom who knows how to play in the rain. Lucky, lucky kids.

  • Your veggies are fab. Do you put anything on them when they are growing? Do you have long hot summers?

  • Lou: I put compost and/or compost “tea”.
And we are working very hard at improving the soil by adding truckloads of rotted manure and leaves and compost every spring.

  • We used to live in a neighborhood where people left extra vegetables on each others porches at night! When we first moved in, one of the neighbors “warned” us, so we wouldn’t be alarmed. It was so much fun the next year when we had vegetables and could sneak around at night leaving little bags on peoples doorsteps!
