  • Good Morning

a few thoughts and a question or two

    *****

    • I will sick last night but am fine now (odd).

    • it is humid and I cannot get my fingers through my hair (why bother combing it, then?)

    • must pick flowers and fill the house (because I can)

    • I am reading a great deal (evenings). I am a rapid and voracious reader and have read 5-6 books this week.  I shall post some favorites soon.

    • To do: find people to talk to about books.

    • need to freeze more peas and beans today

    Questions:

    • I want to start a simple website for my photography, any ideas on user-friendly sites for beginners?

    • I’m looking for natural flea remedies for miss Lucy-Loo

    ANY IDEAS, PLEASE?

    Here, have a MUFFIN

  • No idea on the websites. Most of those that I have seen others using is called notepad….and that confuses the life out of me! I don’t mix well with html or any of those others. lol

The rest…eh, your hair can wait…spend more time reading. lol Or at least that is what I would do. Sorry that you were sick last night. Could it have been just the heat? *hugs*

I am a wimp when it comes to stuff like fleas we used advantage  but we had a cat and a single wide mobile home with carpet everywhere. I was going insane. The cat has since moved to a farm where she can be outside whenever she pleases. We were getting in trouble for letting her out (she had her claws, stayed right around our property, and always came back) Stupid “park” rules.

  • Beautiful images……….
    :sunny:

  • Glad you are feeling better today. I don’t know anything about good photo websites, but eneventure probably would. I forwarded the Muffin site to my brother. :)

  • If you find out about the fleas, will you let me know? I think you should try starting a book club! Get people to read one with you and then discuss. You have enough readership that you should be able to pull a few people into that! Might be fun. There’s a lady on xanga that just put together a website for her photography…let me go check it out and I’ll link it for you. :)

  • yeah, I know nothing about photography, websites or all-natural flea remedies.  But I do know good books! I’ve been reading about a book a day.  Just finished two really good ones- Across a Hundred Mountains and by Reyna Grande and Family and Other Accidents by Shari Goldhagen.

    Hope you feel better!

  • Well this is who I was talking about, but I can’t figure out the source. Her xanga site is here And this womanmade a site using wordpress, I believe…but I notice the web address is her own and not her name/xanga or anything…so maybe that place could work for you?

  • I do believe that it the most beautiful picture of *peas* I have ever seen :)

I read all the time, too, and one of my current goals, in fact, is to find other people who read! I’m going to check out a book discussion group at one of our indy bookstores next week – I’ve never been to such a thing but I’m looking forward to it! Will post details.

  • Themuffin movie psst is freaky!!  ; )

    Love the peas!

Mucho luck on your website!  Sorry I have no leads!

  • ohhhhhhhhhhh how i love sarah harmer. love love love love love her. i met her last summer. she is teeny tiny and amazing.

i too am a rapid reader. i could easily do 5-6 a week. mmmm books are so lovely.

  • brewer’s yeast?  garlic?  I dunnoo

    Great photos btw

  • Muffins invade the Earth, haha!  :fun:

I have used Geocities for 4+ years.  It has a very simple interface to use and is great for beginners.  Also, now that I am more advanced in webprogramming it has options for that kind of thing too.  I highly recommend it!

    Geocities:  http://www.geocities.com

    I love the pictures today!

  • Oh I want some of those peas.  yummy!  EternalCrimsonWings posted on natural Flea and Tick remedies for pets a while back, If you check in her previous posts I think you’ll find it.  If you can’t find it, I emailed it to myself, so I can email it to you.

  • My maiden name was Harmer and I have a sister named Sarah, so she had the same name until she got married.

  • Ack! How could I forget to ask this lovely lady about photography and websites too!

  • That’s funny you mention reading.  I also love to read, and my little one commented that since she and her sister have reading logs to keep, that I should have one too.  What a novel idea!  Your photography is just wonderful.

    Have a Great Day!

  • YES!!! HAHAHAH!!! You have discovered Muffin Films!!

You are officially my favorite person ever!!

  • those peas look delicious. :)   yahoo web hosting has some really easy options for building & maintaining your own website — and it’s quite affordable, too.

  • Everything looks good, I don’t know about a flea remedy though. The muffin site was cute! :sunny:

  • I am of absolutely no help to you. That said, the pea picture is deeeeelicious!

  • flickr is a neat free site for hosting pictures which you can then use for a website.. but it has a cool slide show feature etc.. I think it is worth it to buy your own webspace/domain name as a small investment.. i think i pay $85 a year for 500MB of space and that is a lot, my whole website takes up about 150 and its loaded with pictures. Someone designed the original layout for my current website, but i now manage and up grade it with frontpage.. and before i had one i made myself and it was easy to learn and a lot of fun.

  • ps.. sarah harmer is playing in my city in two weeks.. got to see her perform as well two years ago.. she is amazing!

  • Winklet makes easy flash templates for photography sites. http://www.winkletwebdesign.com/portfolio.asp

  • For my business, I created a website (which is amazing b/c I know nothing about that stuff) using http://www.godaddy.com. it’s muy facil . It took me a minute to realize I needed to purchase a domain name AND a website account, but other than that, it was easy.

  • So pretty. I’m always torn about whether to pick the flowers in my yard that grow wild, or leave them outside to enjoy. I tell you, tough decision! :)

  • I can’t wait for your reading list!  I like imagining you surrounded by flowers reading, reading, reading.:heartbeat:

Sorry you were ill BUT very glad you are feeling better.:sunny:

  • The best thing we’ve found for fleas is a vet item. It’s called  Frontline. The fleas here are stubborn bastards.

I love Amy Winfrey’s animations! You might like her “Making Fiends” series if you like the muffinfilms. :)

  • Nice flowers!  I like the frogs too!  Keep up the great work! – JN.14:27 Rom.5:8

P.S. Have a good rest of the weekend!

  • I do not ever brush my hair. it gets frizzy then I spend a million dollars on horrible products to make t not frizzy when I just have to wash it all ovr agian b/c I can’t go to slepe with it in my hair as it will get on my face an break me out. sometimes it if it’s humid I use Aloe gel to calm it. (while it’s still wet)

the peas looks scrumptious!! (I’ve never used that word before!)

your art is lovely. and if you are thinking of paying someone else to do it for you, my husband can design the site (shameless plug) otherwise I do not know… hmmmm. I wissh ask sean what he knows of use friendly.

what do you mean find someone to talk about books? I love to read books! (we can “talk” about it whenever you like! but i will likely have the same opinion.) =)

  • we call our Lucy Lucy Lou too!(if that makes sense)

Feed her garlic cloves, but if the fleas are bad, we use Frontline :(

  • Here is a proven (by me) way to catch those jumpy little bastards.  At night, or in any dark place where Miss Lucy-Loo (aka Patti) goes, lays, plays, etc… place a very shallow dish (I use those plastic margerine lids) of dish-soapy water on the floor NEAR A NIGHT LIGHT.  Perferable under the night light.  I went to the dollar store and bought a couple of those electric “candlesticks” just for this purpose.

The fleas jump towards the light, end up in the dish and drown.  In the morning, I just walk around with a basin and dump the water.  Repeat until you start finding fles-less dishsoap in the morning.

As for Miss Lucy-Loo (aka Patti) Get a flea comb and just keep removing the fleas, as much as possible.  When I comb Bailey, I keep a basin of dishwater next to me, and pinch the fleas and flick them into the water; just to make sure they are dead.

Also, keep in mind, a totally flea-free pet isn’t natural.  Fleas happen.  The key is balance and keeping the little buggers under control.

    smooch!

  • p.s… I can’t believe you have beans.  I just have crazed vines.  No beans.  Ind I didn’t even think to plant peas this year.  Now I am bummed.  You have beautiful peas, my dear…..

  • I have used register.com and another one run by and for working moms… I will try to remember that one for you. I thought both were fine and they make it pretty simple.

We found with our cats, if we feed them higher quality food like Iams or Eukaneuba, the fleas aren’t attracted to them. Weird, I know, but that was our experience. And then there is always a lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus, or other smelly bath.

  • Fleas….. we use Frontline Plus…. flickr for the photos.  Glad u r feeling better today!

  • Hey, thanks for stopping by my site.

We’ve used GoDaddy.com.  They are really inexpensive.  Good luck!!

As for fleas . . . we use Advantage.  I hate using it, but it’s the only thing that consistenly works.  Which around here is a VERY good thing!!

Love the photo of the peas!!

  • GOod morning 24 hours later!
-onions and garlic!! (they are supposed to repel fleas…at least for humans) Can you get Lucy to eat them, bathe in them, roll around in them? (could you stand the smell afterwards?)

Or maybe (check with the vet on this one) Diatomaceous Earth? go here for an explanation.

Websites….hmmm….I used to (well, still do) have one with Tripod. Haven’t uploaded anyting in a long time. But it is free, and you can either use your own upload software or theirs. I bet if you googled “web space” or “free web space/web page” you could find some to check out. Have you seen Smugmug? It’s a photo sharing/processing/display site. It’s easy to upload to, you can add your own text to your “front page” and captions to photos, you can protect your photos from being copied, arrange your photos into different galleries, make them either private or public, and can view them in different sizes. There is cost, though…I have the $30 /year plan on my smugmug site COme over and check it out! Smugmug has more customized packages..allowing you to customize the background, etc, and use your own customized URL. Go see Tina Folsum Photography for an example. The cost for a completely custom site like this is…I don’t know…but probably close to $100/year, I think.

  • deviantart.com is a good place to put up your photography and stuff.

  • A fresh garlic gloves pressed and mashed in her food daily. Also you can add tablespoon of red cider vinegar for each gallon of drinkling water. Best fix for home and lucy to prevent new fleas? You can sprinkle salt on her coat (it dehydrates the flea eggs and adult fleas as well. You can sprinkle the salt on your carpets  & her sleeping area… if she sleeps with you or the kids, then skip this one step.( Make it fun! Give the kids shakers LOL) cover area well, let it sit for about 4 weeks. Vacuum. Repeat during Flea season. You can keep it on Lucy girl 24/7 no harm. We use a lot of salt and have a very low flea issue.

    Love the pictures!!! (as always!!!:lookaround:)

You inspired me to put some fresh flowers out. THANKS!!!

Glad your ‘germies’ were short lived and you felt better fast! Woo Hooo!

Why comb your hair! If I had your curly hair I would Comb it in the shower, shake and go!

Love the fruit (or veggies) of your labor! YUM!

I used to like Geocities, but they became complicated. Blah! I will think, think, and think for you.

Ahhh a good book! Oh wonderful! I would enjoy a good “Must read” list! Be sure to share when you can.

    Kimberly

  • Wow! The typo-s… sorry, 4 sick little’s = very little sleep for the momma… :spinning:!!! That was -A and Cloves not gloves! LOL… :p

    K~

  • there is a website called http://www.artconspiracy.com and it is for all kinds of artists to upload their stuff too. i have all of my photography there because it is so easy to use and free. + you don’t have to know any html to use it. i hope this helps.

  • Pennyroyal oil. Put a few drops on the puppy’s collar once a week or so – it has a lovely fragrance, but it keeps the wee beasties away.
