    Jeepers Creepers!!!

It’s A Paint Update With Peepers!

(because cativ8ed said she was going on a blog strike until I posted an update.)

    *****

     We discussed it.

     Trevor felt that the persimmon trim was affecting the way the light entered the room;

it was casting a fruity glow upon books and papers and this bothered him.

He was less bothered by the orange-y walls though, and we agreed that if the trim

were white, the walls could stay.

    Done.

     White, thy name is compromise.

(I’m still re-doing the floors though)

      Peeper-ama

On May nights in Maine, one cannot miss the spring peepers.   We wander down to the pond and I take pictures in the dark and we listen to them calling.

    They are tiny.

    (this is Jesse’s hand)

The fact that they are so very small and yet manage to make such an overwhelming cacophony of jubilance never ceases to amaze me.

None of us are too small,  we only need to join others for strength.

    The Peace of Wild Things

    “When despair grows in me
and I wake in the middle of the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting for their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free”.

    ~Wendell Berry

  • it’s a beautiful compromise…so warm and inviting.  :)   and those tiny little peepers are just amazing.  your photography is always stunning.  i look forward to seeing your blog every day  :)

  • Nice compromise(I still like your choice better!) We have the little peepers too,I love them!

  • Great post!  Your house is so cute!

  • Those peepers are so cute!

  • aww i loved the orange! the white looks bright and clean so it’s good :)

your photos always turn out so darn gorgeous. what kind of camera do you use?

  • LOL about the “fruity glow” . Not that you should care but, I liked the red better but, it was a good compromise! I used to live in Camden Maine…I remember the peepers!

  • I kinda like a “fruity glow”, but the white is ”Outta sight”!

Peepers are too cute.  I love their song.

  • have you read fields of plenty by ableman? in it, he mentions the sound of frogs copulating, with a more coloqial term and alliteration i won’t use on a blog that mentions children, lol, but it made me remember. my parents live in NY, and when the peepers are out like crazy, and you cant help but squish them, no matter how hard you try not too. they are everywhere…

  • Good compromise.  “Creeper” is right.  Frogs make me shudder, no matter how small.

  • i just adore your use of colors…. so brave and with such a grand result.

    tiny froggies…. too cute

  • your house looks beautiful, and so does the frog.

  • I dare say I think Trevor was right about the light thing. I so needed that Wendell Berry today.

  • Nice choice in compromises (especially the part about you still doing the floors ;) ) but I still like the persimmon better. lol And ITA about those peepers! I never would have imagined that something that tiny could make that much noise until they are under your window singing up a storm!

I hope that you had a wonderful mother’s day!

  • I really like the white!

  • It looks wonderful!  It is great that he is so aware of how the colors affect him – it shows his level of sensitivity.

I love your little creeper.    He is super cute.  Hope you had a lovely mom’s day!

  • Nice job on the trim!

  • Very nice!

How tiny, what a cute little frog!

  • The white makes the windows look like glowing portals into heaven.

  • Emily loved the frog sounds! She wants to go hear some more frogs now.

  • since i have dial up i miss your films but i had to tell you!
that poem really spoke to me and my heart aches but more of understanding, or something! you continue to inspire:)

  • the white looks really nice, I really liked the persimmon, but compromise is a wonderful thing. I have heard those creepers, but never had I seen them. They are so so small!! I can’t believe those little things are so loud. Amazing.

  • You are such a fast painter, I am awed & slightly envious!

Looks good, compromises really clean the air .

  • Still looks beautiful!  Glad you found an easy compromise.  :)

  • What is it with men and white trim? My hubs is on a white trim binge, too.

  • You can’t go wrong with white, but darn it, I LOVED the persimmon!

  • Well ok…that works beautifully, too!
(but I am still moving forward with my plans for colorama in my kitchen!!!)

That’s the nice thing about paint…if you don’t like it, you can paint over it. (-:

I can’t play the video. Wish I could!!!

  • I love the update.  I think it looks lovely.  and I miss those little frogs!!  I totally lost the half completed tape I made for you but I just got a new stereo that works better so I want to finish it soon.  sorry for my slowness, too!

    Love,

    Sadie
