  • Oh wow! Have fun cleaning that up!

  • Julie P.-

I tag you to the 7′s challenge!  ; ) me

  • Hehehe!  What fun they look like they are having.  You can tell Roo really is in her own little magical realm.  Sweet…very sweet.

Jesse is looking so old.  Is he shaving yet?

  • That looks like so much fun! lol I won’t try it here though….maybe outside when it warms up again. ;)

  • bet that was fun to clean up!!!! (almost as fun as spilling 5 lbs of sugar all over the floor!)

  • Whose idea was this? Beautiful pictures!

  • Quite possibly the ONLY good reason to buy white flour!  Oh, and playdough.  It’s good for playdough…

    Blessings!

  • See, here’s the thing.  We grab the camera, instead of shouting, “NOOOOO, STOOOOOP!!!!”

    (Well, I do sometimes.)

That one where you can see the little particles of flour is amazing.  They look like ions or something streaming through the universe.

  • Lovely! I think playing in flour would be lots of fun.

  • No, that should be DO try this at home ;)

    YAY for the new fridge!

  • Oh how cool! You are brave for busting out the flour indoors lol. Inside or out it looks like fun though. I love the wee one with the hands up in the air and such happiness on her little face.

  • the idea was Jesse’s, we were making pizza dough and spilled some flour.  Jess grabbed some and started throwing it and my first instinct was to grab my camera because it looked so wonderful. And it WAS WONDERFUL.  One of those moments when you look at your children and SEE them and you cannot believe how it is all happening in front of you; it is all so amazing.

it is most definately a DO, but I recommend “DOING” it outside; the flour particles stuck to out wood floors like nobody’s business and got in the cracks between the planks and gummed up when I tried to mop it.

If you have linoleum floors though, well that would be different.

(incidentally, it was whole wheat pastry flour, I think the whole wheat made the grains show up better)

And we only used about a cup of it…

  • P.S. if you do try this at home, don’t forget to lay down in it and make “flour angels”

  • incredible performance art…

  • I’m NOT showing these pics to my kids! I think we all need to come play at YOUR house!

  • My dd told me your house was a ‘Fun House’.  Maybe I need to hide the flour canister?

  • oh man, we did that outdoors a few years back. Fun, but oh so messy.

  • “Flour angels”  LOL.   Oh man, why didn’t I think of that instead of driving 8 hours to Utah to make snow angels?  I bet flour doesn’t freeze your bum if it gets inside your underwear.

  • my dd loves to eat raw whole wheat flour and track it through the house. Also raw oats.

I find that pulling out the camera is a good way to get dd to STOP whatever it is she’s doing. She immediately runs over and says “I see Rosaline throwing flour in the camera??” *pout* So hard to get good pictures anymore.

  • Wow, that’s a CUP of flour?? Let this be a warning, eh… ;)

  • We’ve got linoleum, may have to try it!

  • So much fun!  You have such a magical home life, and I always feel like it’s such a gift to get these little peeks at your daily magic.

    As for cleanup…SWEEP first!

  • Still cleaning are we??

I so love how you do this all.  I just look at you guys with wonder and inspiration.  My mother would have gone into a catatonic screaming fit (is that even possible??) had any of us had just a smidgeon of the fun you guys are having.  You inspire me!!!!

  • Hahahaha, those pictures are glorious. Have fun cleaning!

  • Oh man, that stuff would haunt the cracks in my wood floor for eternity!  I’m so glad you all had such a wonderful time!

  • Hate cleaning the flour after my kids play in it!!!! No cheaper toy than a 5 lb bag of white flour. Garrett says mama can I play with the dust???? I like to put a big tarp on the lawn and let them play naked in it. they lOVE that . Than we fold the tarp up with the flour in it and use it for another session.

  • hey I know I[‘m late chiming in here but we do that at our house and let me tell ya a good real ostrich feather duster is perfect!! and really… who cares if the cracks are bit more visible it’s CHARACTER (I tell this to my wrinkles in the mirror) I love your photos and your blog and your quotes and because of it all your family. One day I will have the moments to sit down and send you a proper email but for now at 2am I can tell you thanks and sorry about your pants and dear god how do you go so long without the Daddy to come save you from your children for a whole month I would be sobbing in the back of the closet by the time he came home. OK, probably not, I can be strong too but dang that sucks. Please keep sharing with us you never fail to add sunshine to my day

  • snugglebugg: thanks so much, really!
